Klonopin Treatment and Rehab

What is Klonopin and its normal without addiction treatment and rehab?

An exceptionally strong muscle relaxer and anti convulsant drug, Klonopin is used by physicians to treat patients with epilepsy and to relieve certain types of panic attacks. It is available in pill or disintegrating tablet form and is typically administered one to three times a day. Klonopin is a member of the benzodiazepine family and has a high risk of chemical dependence.

How does Klonopin work?

As a central nervous system depressant, Klonopin helps to calm patients by increasing the occurrence of gammaaminobutyric acid (GABA) neurotransmitters in the brain. The release of extra GABA decreases abnormal brain activity and produces drowsiness and calms in the user, hence the reason why Klonopin is sometimes referred to as a sedative or tranquilizer. This drug is extremely habit-forming and patients may become addicted to the positive effects of Klonopin.

What are the side effects of Klonopin addiction before rehab?

As can be expected of a drug as strong as Klonopin, the side effects of this drug are rather extensive and range from mild to severe. Mild side effects include drowsiness, loss of libido, impaired motor function and irritability.

More severe and long-term side effects are varied and can include depression, sexual dysfunction, rage, incontinence, liver damage and cognitive impairment issues that can last up to six months after the addict has quit using the drug so it is important to rehab the addiction as soon as possible.

What are the withdrawal symptoms of Klonopin?

Users of the drug Klonopin can become chemically dependant within four weeks of beginning use of the drug and the withdrawal symptoms can be fairly difficult to manage. Abrupt withdrawal from the drug may cause psychosis, aggressiveness, hallucinations, dysphoric manifestations and a life threatening condition known as status epilepticus
